KUANYIN CHOWS
WE TAKE THE ROUGH
WITH THE SMOOTH

Kuanyin chows are owned by Liz and Raymond Campbell, located in Newtownards N. Ireland in the shadow of Scrabo Tower. The affix was requested just after we purchased our first bitch Annie after visiting the Ulster museum Chinese exhibition, after listing out potential names Kuanyin was selected as it means princess which we thought was appropriate.  Our first introduction to the breed was eighteen years ago when we were walking our two dogs and saw a gorgeous red chow called Tai. Many stops were made at his gate for many years following that first meeting. After our two dogs died at the age of thirteen we got our first chow which was an adorable red rough called Danny who had shown with some success but was retired after damaging an ear. We got him when he was two and a half, unfortunately he died from a heart attack six months later. We were devastated and at this point we were getting no more dogs as we had lost three dogs within a year. However after reading Our Dogs and seeing an advert for a red rough a tentative call was made to Mrs Maureen Davies (Chowdale) and Chowdale Kaiser Bill became a member of our clan and our chow family grew from there.

We presently have five chows, 2 red roughs, one black rough , one black smooth and one red smooth which share our home with a shih tzu called Scooby.
